New Show Announced

Hey, were gonna play our third show of 2005. And it's not at big festival. We're playing at 610 (as in 610 Studios, 610 Ann Street)
on April 16th w/ Sekiden, Spod (from Sydney), The Whats and Happy Christmas. It's gonna be pretty gold, we'd be going even if we didn't have to go. And it's all-ages to boot.

More Children Of The Swarm News

The website for the Children Of The Swarm Festival happening April 2nd is now online here. The timetable is up, we're on at 6:50pm (Stage 2) right before Gazoonga Attack. If you're thinking about a discount ticket, time is running out and you should go get one already. If you know all about PayPal, you can buy
the tickets from the website.

More Iron On News

There isn't really any new Iron On news. We started practising again (big fucking whoop right!) and thank gawd. We've been sitting around listening to the polished Magoo interpretation of Iron On (courtesy of our new record) and we actually forgot that we don't *really* sound like that. And then we remembered that we re-wrote some things in the studio. And then got together and went 'Awww, crap'.

We're probably gonna announce some more shows in the next couple of weeks.

And just a final reminder...if you want to get the Iron On Mail Out, you've got to RE-JOIN the mailing list because the old one is DEAD. Do that here.

New Album

Throughout February we've been in the studio recording our debut album. Working with Magoo (Regurgitator, Not From There, Budd, Midnight Oil) at his Black Box recording facility, we committed ten songs to tape/computer. No looking back, the album is gonna be ten brand new songs. Some you may have heard at shows throughout 2004 but there are even a few that have never been played live. We're still working out how and when the album is going to be available (and what it's gonna be called) but we'll post details as soon as we have them.

New Website

Guess who deleted the old website? The correct answer is: the bass player. Gawd, you can see why so many bands do without them these days. The old site was backed up somewhere but young Mr Rogers decided that this was the bitter fist of fate punching him in the face and decided it was time for a re-design. We hope you enjoyed the studio diary and the interim minimalistic site during this busy construction period.

There have been a few changes of course. We've got a new MP3 storage server over a Pure Volume, there is a new mailing list form, an online press kit for the peeps in the media and generally speaking, a whole lot less clutter (and character truth be told - but Ian just doesn't have the time to maintain a site like the old one). Feel free to send glitches, mistakes and regrets about the new site to abandcalledironon@hotmail.com.

Fuck The Internet

Ian also deleted the mailing list. What a guy! Nevermind, it wasn't much good anyhow. We couldn't see where anyone lived which made it hard to work out what we should send to whom. Jeez, our interstate friends must have gotten sick of reading about all the shows they couldn't come too. Or maybe the celebrated the fact that that they did not have to devise a suitable excuse. Who knows. But know this: if you wanna recieve the Iron On mailout, you've gotta resubscribe to the mailing list. You can do that here.

Children Of The Swarm Festival

It's gonna be fun, you should come along. Apparently talk is we're gonna get hated off the stage because we're not a hardcore band. But what the hey, people are always saying that, and it never seems to happen. The worst thing that's ever happened to us was some girl dressed like she was going to a halloween party as 'a punk rocker' yelled 'you're fucked' at us one time...and Kate misheard it as 'FUCK Yeah' and was thinking 'Shit mang, laides are stoked'. So yeah, not exactly Dimebag Darrell-esque in terms of a negative crowd response. (BTW Please don't shoot us). And of course this all ignores the fact we actually like playing to different people, even when they hate us and especially when they don't.

Here are all the details: 2 APRIL 2005 "Children Of The Swarm" Festival @ The RNA Showgrounds featuring Strike Anywhere (USA), The Nation Blue, Sommerset, Parkway Drive, Something With Numbers, The Scare, Gazoonga Attack, From These Wounds, Death:Wolf!, Asleep At The Scene, December Waiting, The Kicks and heaps of other bands. This show is ALL AGES but does cost $48 (+ booking fee) or $40 (+ booking fee) if you buy one of the first 500 tickets.

Hardcore Band Clones Ross

Ross has often recieved invitations to join heavier bands, it seems the metal/scream/grindcore/hardcore community have taken quite a shine to him and his brutal vocal delivery style and intense riffing albilities. It's embarrassing for the rest of the band. Do they invite Nicola to join their bands, her with her lengthy resume of past punk/hardcore drumming (she can play Bad Brains, just ask her how). Do they invite Ian even though he owns the Converge DVD? No way. Kate? Even though she can hammer a Pantera riff AND look great in black? No they ask Ross. Always with Ross. And he always says no citing the fact that hardcore 'doesn't sound enough like Last Days Of April' or simply asking 'Is Death Cab For Cutie a hardcore band?'. And still they ask.

Not hardcore/metal Carpathian of Melbourne, they've simply gone right ahead and cloned Mr Hope instead. Want proof? Check out the proof. Ross is on the left in both photos. Cooincidence?

Figure 1: The Cloned Hardcore Ross (note emo belt worn, general buffness and home-made black haricut; all similar to the real Ross)

Figure 1: The Real Ross (note lack of black caps and the fact everyone is smiling like they're getting primary school portraits taken)
