:: Iron ON ON Australian Music ONline ::

Anyone noticed that Ian's been doing a lot of interviews lately? He's noticed, just ask him about it. Better check this link to Australian Music Online before he decides to stop talking about Iron On forever.

:: Iron On Being People Again For A Bit ::
Hello everyone. Not really a lot of news to report but thought I'd better put something up. Well all our Brisbane EP related stuff is done for another release and now we're all kicking back and staring hard at the television, the computer screen, the snare drum, the text-book and/or into the black abyss. Business as usual really but we've been going to other people's shows and working and 'turning up to practise'.

:: Jebediah, Jebediah ::
We've got some shows coming up, heaps of them. In June we're playing with Jebediah (The Waterloo Hotel Sat 12 June w/ Jackson United) which is great because the following weekend we've all got tickets to Sonic Youth and J Masics, and that will undoubtably make us want to break up. So it's lucky we snagged that Jebediah support just in time. A week later and...bang.

:: We Tour, Therefore We Are (Usually Employed Part-Time) ::
More news-worthy than the above ramblings is our July/August Tour of every-fucking-where. There be regions visited, capital cities annoyed and all sorts of parking violations aplenty. We'll update the gig guide with a full run-down soon but shows are defintely happening in SA, VIC, NSW and QLD. We even got booked in Sydney, no shit. Does that mean we're famous now?

:: God Hates Brisbane ::
True story. It's in the bible.

:: Get Calmed Down ::
Stroke our egos, buy 'Everybody Calm Down' at a record store today. It's kinda cheap. Kinda. And every copy equates to 'charting gold' on the AIR billboard. We never realised that we'd be a chart-topping independent band going into this, but now that it's happened (#6 people!!!) well, we don't feel much different to when we independently released The Understudy and no one bought it either. But our parents are stoked. [Note the title of this news item IS a bad, pithy Jet reference...Iggy should sue we say, sue and get a haircut].

:: 54 = 200 = Film Adaptation ::
The production of our first film clip (Fifty-Four Equals Two Hundred) has been completed. We all owe director Matt Cerwin about a million beers as it looks like a million dollars (but cost noticably less...noticably). We'll probably send it off to Rage this week sometime and will be sure to let everyone know when it's due to air. Anyone else got any ideas where we should send it? Email us. Do you own a television station? Email us (abandcalledironon@hotmail.com).

:: Everybody Came Down ::

Thanks to everyone who came to the 'Everybody Calm Down' launch at the Zoo last friday night. If you had half as much fun as we did you would have went home happy. What a night, phew, what a morning...a least one On saw day break.

These events may have taken place:

> The Autumn Giants started the night by having their van towed from a carpark behind the Zoo. To those who towed it we say, from the bottom of our black hearts: Fuck You! God, what some people will do for a living? That van was parked for literally 15 minutes. Luckily the Autumn Giants ended the night by: (a) trying to put members of Turnpike into the rider, (b) drunkenly racing/throwing their gear down the back steps of the Zoo, (c) dancing on their own at The Depot, (d) stepping on the unclothed feet of women who could be co-coerced by Ruth Street into dancing with them and (e) accidentally smashing up a table at The Depot. Busy night huh. We're all very proud. Ruth Street beams with pride. We've always wanted a genuine, troublesome 'rock' band on the roster and they may be it. The Autumn Giants Of Science anyone?

> Denvar played and reminded everyone why we got excited about having them on the bill. Such a cool band, jesus, people write letters, ring them up, be threatening; just make sure they keep coming out and rocking it. They played new stuff too...and it had rad falsetto stylings: The Indie Rock Bee-Gees. Who ever thought 'The Indie Rock Bee-Gees' was the answer to a question worth asking? Okay, we did. A friend's (Hi Kratzy!) mother told Ian once that she used to dance with one of the Gibb brothers at dance class. We're gonna tell the suitors of our children that we used to play shows with Denvar. And they'll be killer impressed.

> We played too. Now these things don't normally happen: (1) We don't normally get a rider that big, (2) We normally don't drag it onstage like Guided By Voices but The Autumn Giants of Science looked thirsty (3) Ian doesn't ALWAYS pound that many beers onstage, but yes, he occasionally break dances during songs (4) We covered Jimmy Rogers by Fur (and recommend it to your band) (5) We normally retain some level of dignity but (6) You all came up the front without asking and so we 'pushed the button' as many times as we could until it broke so then we (7) Broke everything. You can't encore with no drum kit by the way...and what did you want that we didn't play? Sleep In?

> The afterparty was at The Depot and peeps must have known we were coming because there was plenty of room on the dancefloor. If you were a regular patron, our deepest apologises. Everyone just seemed to sweep on in and start dismantling each other. What was some of that dancing we performed? Why were we doing it? If you know, please do email us. Thanks again for D Black and Team Depot for turning a blind eye (&/or actively encouraging) our near ceaseless indiscretions at your fine establishment. We are bad people.
