:: BACK FROM THE DEAD ::
A week later and I can safely say we've recovered. Stomach linings have reappeared. Emotions have subsided. We even practised the other day. They call that '
Getting Back On The Pony' in the industry but we think the industry and that sorta terminology is a little too academic for us...we much prefer the phrase '
continued self-actualisation'. Thanks to all who came to our shows in Melbourne and for all those that made them possible and enjoyable namely: Rhonda and Natalie from
Origami (above and beyond the call of duty: accomidation, transport and cheer),
David and Mia,
Shane from Beat,
Nic Coppack,
The Bites and those that make up the Bites (Rene, Kirsty, Monika and Gen), Andrew and Ben from
Good Morning Captain, all at
The Great Brittain, all at
The Empress and anyone who we forgot. Your city totally lived up to the hype. You should come and check out ours...its not too bad either.

We picked up the ceedees in Melbourne. We now have some big boxes of little
'The Understudy' EPs in Ian's dining room ready to go out and meet the general public. We're doing mailorder of the record thru Ruth Street Records as of right now. If you'd like a copy send $10 to us C/o Ruth Street Records, PO Box 8170, Woolloongabba QLD 4102. We also have a new run of badges, they're $2 each. Oh and don't forget we've still got a limited number (about 20 from memory) of the live 'We've Been Iron On' EPs available for $5 each. Badges and the live EP are both available thru the mail too so hop to it by sending well concealed cash (no coins...we'll send change...& kids wrap it up tight in a couple of sheets of paper). Or you could just send a cheque made out to Kate Cooper. Easy huh.

Here's a review of the before mentioned live EP by Diane Leyman of
Fuzzzine (writing in this instance for
Mono.net):
This is the debut release from Brisbane indie-rock newcomers Iron On. It's a three-song collection of live songs, recorded at the Zoo in August 2002, and while it may be short in length, goes a long way in capturing the enthusiasm these guys share for their beloved indie-rock. Song one, 'Camera One,' is nothing outstanding, but a fairly solid thumping tune nonetheless. Stepping it up a pace, 'Old Cat' is a fast-paced rockier song that resembles Magic Dirt a little, what with the female-fronted rock factor. The CD ends with 'Best or Less,' Iron On's self-confessed epic, a catchy indie-rock number with Ross taking over on vocals, backed up with strong instrumentation - this is definitely Iron On at their finest. One thing worth mentioning about 'We've Been Iron On,' is the funky artwork - the CD comes with hand assembled liner notes and cover spray art. DIY CD artwork makes for a warmly welcomed change. Overall, it's not a bad debut. Given time, good things may come from these guys.
Thanks Diane. The cheque is in the mail.

:: FUCKING SOMETHING ::

Yeah...uhmmm...thought I'd better write something. Its about 2:00am on our last night in Melbourne, we've had a blast and hopefully blasted a few, be it by playing some overtly committed indie rock or ...what really happened: us rolling around in the carpark drunk. Things are different down here, but they're working it, you know. Show tonight was a fucking nightmare thechnically but things happened. Songs were played. I left the stage tonight. Rhonda from Origami has just bounced a beer top off my head. Time to put the keyboard down start the par-tay.
More soon.

Tomorrow we're going to Melbourne for the weekend to play some shows and collect some large boxes of our EP. So that means we're just about to release it right? Uh-huh, we're launching it at the Zoo on thursday May the 1st. Why the wait? Arh we had to wait a while too...to play at the Zoo, that and we want to do a few things before having the CDs out there, one of which is finishing off some new songs. We're gonna post an MP3 from the EP soon, promise.
